Fresh Beginnings – A short summary about Navin Iyer

Navin Iyer (NI) was born in Chennai on the 17th of august 1985. He is an out and out Chennaite, who started learning flute at the age of 4. With a strong classical background, NI’s passion towards wind instruments grew with every passing day. Today, he is a flautist par excellence, highly sought after in the music industry. He has played for industry greats like A.R. Rehman, GV Prakash, Vidyasagar, Ousepachchan and many others. Till date he has been part of 4000 recordings, which includes ad jingles, recordings in other languages and international collaborations. His international collaborations include world music record label EarthSync and UK musician James Asher. Collaboration with Chennai based pianist Anil Srinivasan has also resulted in some well-received performances. On a personal note, NI has a collection of flutes. The collection includes sixty odd flutes from all across the world.

2 yearss agoI am a great fan of your flute music you did for many tamil film songs. The songs from Rangeela, Kadhalan, Duet, May maadham, karuththamma are some of my favourites with your great flute music. I have enjoyed listening the flute you did for A.R. Rehman. Especially the “Velli malare” song from the film Jodi. The flute version of that song is awesome. Why have you not mentioned anything about your Album “Fluid” in your site of blog? Best wishes to achieve more.

It was wonderful to watch you on Vijay TV – ” Super Singer Junior II”. I alongwith Hema & Vineeth enjoyed your programme wholly, more than the children singing songs. It was really ecstatic.
